As a student that has had the privilege of attending A.B. Alongside my Co-Captain, Nevindu Dammanagoda, I am poised to see that we will accomplish a cohesive and inclusive environment where each individual can thrive in all aspects of college life.

My vision for the College in 2025 is encompassed by my commitment to the growth and development of the college community. I aim to foster the unique culture of A.B. Paterson College through my dedication to college endeavours, empowering young individuals to embark on a journey that encourages them to reach beyond their potential. Additionally, my goal is to prioritise the wellbeing of students, further enhancing the spirit of A.B. Paterson College and empowering students to strive beyond their comfort zones.

I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to serve as the College Captain for 2025 and I am looking forward to seeing what we as a school community achieve this year. Thank you!

Nevindu Dammanagoda

My name is Nevindu Dammanagoda and it is my honour to serve as your College Captain in 2025.

Through fostering connection, nurturing a sense of spirit, service, and offering unwavering support to all students, I aspire to create an environment where each individual can thrive, grow, and step into their own leadership potential. It is my hope in 2025 to leave behind an identity of unity, pride in our shared character, and a deep commitment to our college community—values that will continue to guide and inspire future generations of students.

Samantha Smithers
Dennis House Captain

Hi, my name is Samantha Smithers, and I am thrilled to be the 2025 Dennis Captain.

I have been attending A.B. Paterson College since 2020 and have been heavily involved in the school's sports program. I have enjoyed being in different clubs, such as debating and public speaking. In my spare time, I enjoy playing cricket and hanging out with my friends.

For 2025, my goals for Dennis and the overall inter-house sporting environment are to promote student attendance and involvement outside of inter-house sporting events and get them involved in a way that correlates with them, such as volunteering or more arts-based activities. Riley and I are excited to begin our journey as Dennis Captains and plan to have a year filled with laughter and great house spirit.

Riley Grimmer
Dennis House Captain

My name is Riley Grimmer, and I am one of your Dennis House Captains for 2025.

Having been a student of A.B. Paterson College for the past 12 years, I take great pride in being a part of the community. As a member of Dennis House, I have witnessed our house consistently rise to challenges within all aspects of the college. Dennis House has consistently risen to challenges across all aspects of college life, earning a reputation for its outstanding spirit and student dedication to the community. Alongside my fellow captain, Samantha, I am eager to build on this strong foundation and continue to develop this culture within the house.

In 2025, I aim to develop a supportive and determined community that values teamwork and comradery. My goal is to foster unity, encourage participation, and ensure every student feels valued. As a whole, I am thrilled to have been placed in a position of leadership in Dennis house and I am excited to see what we will achieve in the future.

Abigail Harrison
Lawson House Captain

My name is Abigail Harrison, and I am incredibly honoured to serve as one of your Lawson House Captains in 2025.

Since the beginning of my journey here at the College, I have always felt embraced for who I am within the school community, receiving constant support from all staff and peers in my academic and sporting endeavours. This is a legacy I aim to develop and strengthen under my guidance of Lawson House by ensuring that all students’ voices are not just simply heard but celebrated for their individuality and authenticity. Through this, I intend to foster an environment that nurtures leaders of all abilities, regardless of age or grade level, rather than more followers; a trait that I believe to be incredibly valuable not only within the classroom, but on the sports field, stage and beyond into the wider community.

Jake Ward
Lawson House Captain

Hi, my name is Jake Ward and I am extremely eager to be one of your 2025 Lawson House Captains.

Since starting at the College in 2019 it was always clear that Lawson House was a house of tradition. Tradition not limited to school spirit or pride; but standing out as a home for its students, not just a house. It is with great pride that now not only will I be a part of Lawson House’s never-ending legacy, but leave my own mark not just for Lawson, but for the wider College community. This legacy that I will start this year can be answered with a simple word. ‘Want’. This year, I want the students of Lawson House to feel empowered in making a positive change around the college and outside it. To want to be the best version of themselves that they can, and to create a new culture where students want to participate in making Lawson not just a house, but a home.

If you ever see me within or outside of the college, please feel welcomed to say ‘hi’, or tell me your brilliant ideas, I am always open to hearing everyone’s thoughts and opinions on how we can bring positive change.

Finlay Proverbs
Mackellar House Captain

Hi! My name if Finlay Proverbs, and I am the Mackellar House captain for 2025.

“Community is much more than just belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter”. In 2025, my goal as house captain is to ensure that every member of Mackellar House feels heard and supported, always. Being in a position where I can mentor younger students is very exciting for me, and I strive to foster a shared sense of belonging in a fun and engaging environment. I feel that a torch has been passed to me, and as I build upon and continue the legacy of those who came before me, I am inspired to explore new ideas to enhance engagement throughout the college community.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I am also delighted to collaborate with a group of individuals who are equally motivated to maintain and develop the college ethos of excellence, care, and commitment. I am entering 2025 with a mindset to make the college an even better place, and I am confident to be surrounded by people who feel the same way.

Preston Williams
Mackellar House Captain

My name is Preston Williams, and I am honoured to serve as one of your Mackellar House Captains for 2025. As we embark on an exciting year ahead, I am ready to embrace the spirit of the Mighty Eagle - bringing passion, enthusiasm, and dedication to every challenge, from House Carnivals to the day-to-day moments that define our community.

My vision for 2025 is to foster a culture grounded in mutual respect, kindness, and connection - one where every individual feels valued and supported. Through the A.B. K.I.T. initiative (Keeping In Touch), I aim to create meaningful relationships that unite us across the College community.

Let us soar higher together, leaving behind a legacy of pride, compassion, and unforgettable memories.

Agan Pillai
Wright House Captain

I am Agan Pillai, and I am one of the two Wright House Captains at A.B. Paterson College, alongside Charlie. I have been at the school for 10 years and experienced much of what the school has to offer, which is to say I have been engrossed in the College culture for a while, and I know the ins and outs of life here.

I personally place particular emphasis on making sure that everyone feels valued and included, everyone's ideas are heard. I try and place a particular emphasis on being kind and considerate to everybody, and I tend to work from the back of the crowd, pushing people forward and lifting people up.

My vision for Wright House is for all our students to constantly feel pride in the fact that they are part of Wright House during their everyday school life. This would mean sparking initiatives to get as many people involved in creating decorations for our carnivals (which Wright House has a penchant for winning), sparking a spirit committee to uplift House Pride, and maybe even implementing fun, day-to-day challenges for Wright House students to complete throughout the week.

I am very excited to work with the school and our brilliant students this year, and with Charlie, I hope to leave a lasting legacy on Wright House that will not be forgotten for a long time.

Charlie Price-Wigg
Wright House Captain

My name is Charlie Price-Wigg, and I am honoured to serve as one of the Wright House Captains for 2025.

Although A.B. Paterson College has only been my home since Year 10, Wright House felt like a second family from the start, the support and camaraderie from the house made my transition to the school smooth and welcoming.

Over my first year, I met the incredible individuals in Wright House and quickly realised I wanted to lead this group. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead one of the best houses at A.B. Paterson College, where every student strives for excellence. With a background in competitive team sports, leadership has always been a privilege for me.

Jessica Passmore

Hello, my name is Jessica Passmore, and I am your 2025 Secondary School Sports Captain!

Starting from a young age, I have always loved competing in individual and team sports. I am very excited to share my competitiveness and admiration with the College community. I enjoy participating in a variety of activities at the College including co-curricular, representative, and club sports. By partaking in any level of sports, it gives you the strength and confidence to take on challenges. It has taught me about teamwork, resilience, and hard work. I will be there to support, by fostering personal growth and inspire all students to embark on their sporting journey. I strive to share my passion with the College community, making everlasting relationships and memories!

Amelia Wolff
Junior School Sports Captain

Hi, my name is Amelia Wolff, and I am honoured to serve as the 2025 Junior School Sports Captain.

Since beginning at A.B. Paterson College in kindergarten, I have been actively involved in various teams and programs both inside and outside the college. These experiences have not only enhanced my athletic abilities but also provided me with a strong sense of teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship, whilst educating me on the importance of discipline and resilience, in order to achieve success. To further enhance my sporting passion, I have been actively involved in a large variety of opportunities to further develop my coaching and sporting knowledge. This opportunity has provided me with a different perspective on team culture, operation, and game interpretation, whilst at the same time, an extremely rewarding experience to watch the players develop both individually and as a team, over the season.

As an enthusiastic athlete and dedicated student, I am eager to collaborate with staff, external coaches, teammates, and students to enhance our sports programs and promote a culture of dedication, determination, inclusivity, respect, and healthy competition.

Matilda Grant
Community & Wellbeing Captain

Hi, my name is Matilda Grant and it is my pleasure to be the College's inaugural Community and Wellbeing Leader!

I have always been passionate about getting involved in the school community and the many opportunities on offer at A.B. Paterson College. From sports programs and College musicals to academic competitions and service clubs, I believe that community is at the heart of everything we do. In 2025, I will continue my involvement in these programs, create new ones, and encourage everyone to expand their community and connect with one another. Wellbeing is the balance in our lives - physically, socially, emotionally. This year, I aim to increase conversation about mental health, balance, and establish initiatives to support our students, staff, and the wider college community. For me, leadership is a commitment to my cohort, my community, and to continuing the legacy of every College Leader that has come before me. I cannot wait to spend the next year leading, inspiring, and motivating our amazing College community!

Sunny Liu
Performing Arts Captain

My name is Sunny Liu, and I am thrilled to be the Performing Arts Captain of 2025! It is an honour to represent our vibrant arts community and to promote its continued growth and success.

Since joining the College in Year 7, I have been immersed in bands, musicals, competitions and performances, fuelled by my passion for the saxophone. This journey has been incredibly enriching and has given me countless opportunities to grow as both a musician and a leader.

As Captain, I have made it my goal to inspire as many members of our College community as possible to appreciate and participate in the arts. I am committed to ensure that every student feels supported and encouraged in their artistic endeavours.

James Oakes
Prep to Year 3 Captain

Hello! My name is James Oakes, and I am excited to be your Prep to Year 3 Leader for 2025!

As the Prep to Year 3 Leader, my goal is to inspire and motivate our youngest students at A.B. Paterson College, while giving back to the community that has supported and inspired me since I started Prep in 2013. To achieve this, I will create an environment where students are excited and eager to come to school each day, through engaging activities, friendly competitions, and enjoyable games.

I am truly honoured to have this opportunity and will make the most of it to enhance the student experience at our amazing school.

Coby Calver
Year 4 to Year 6 Captain

My name is Coby Calver, and I am delighted to be the Year 4 to Year 6 Captain for 2025!

My vision for 2025 is one full of joy, laughter, and happy memories. I believe that it is so important for the Senior grades to interact with the Junior grades, as it creates a welcoming community for all! This year, I am committed to fostering connections between the high-school students and the students who are still completing their primary schooling. I am super excited for what 2025 has to offer, and I truly hope that many new friends are made along the way!

Sarah Gordon
Year 7 to Year 9 Captain

Hello! My name is Sarah Gordon, and I am more than excited to be A.B. Paterson College’s Year 7-9 Captain in 2025. To me, this position is more than just a label, my ambition to bring the younger grades together will create a sense of connection and unity within cohorts and the school.

My personal experience of going through Years 7-9 was complicated, as it was for most people. Friendships change as you yourself change with the reality of senior school, what it entails, and your very own personal growth. New pathways and subjects are open to explore, with possibilities to meet new people or potential best friends. With the positives, there is always at least one negative, whether it is friends, subject pressures, or personal struggles.

I aim to assist everyone with these negatives as much as possible while promoting and supporting their positives. I will maintain contact as much as possible, ensuring a smooth transition through grades and into the oncoming terms. Ideally, I strive to gain a strong connection with each cohort, memorising names, and learning their very own stories. Becoming someone who is more than just a year 12 student, but a friend, inspiration, or big sister.

My 2025 journey will be nothing other than impactful and unique; this leadership role allows me to enforce this. However, it does not limit me, I will support and assist the other leaders, offering advice or my time to help them bring their initiatives to life. I am truly excited to see how this long-awaited year will fly past us all.

Emelia Wedemeyer
Secondary School Interact Captain

My name is Emelia Wedemeyer, and I have the privilege of serving as the 2025 Secondary School Interact Captain.

I take immense pride in being a student at A.B. Paterson College for over 12 years, due to the strong sense of community and connection nurtured within our College community. The position of Interact Captain provides me with the opportunity to further strengthen this community by providing students with a platform to collaborate, create, and develop their leadership skills. I am passionate about fostering an environment where students can express their interests, forge meaningful relationships, and work together toward common goals. That is why I love Interact – where we encourage all secondary students to join us at our weekly Interact Club meetings to come together to plan beloved college events and build lasting connections.

I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to everything that 2025 holds!

Miles Britton
Junior School Interact Captain

Hi, my name is Miles Britton, A.B. Paterson College’s Junior School Interact Captain for 2025.

Over the next year I am going to provide a space where all students feel heard, teaching others to find the people that empower them. While everyone has a different set of societal expectations upon them, I aim to share my story, showing students that they have the capacity to do anything if they learn to truly believe in themselves. Through my role as Interact and my dedication to being a part of today’s change, I will share my personal experiences to spark the interests of those who are willing to share their story, supporting a diverse and inclusive culture within the College. Everyone deserves to share their passions with those around them and see first-hand how their ambition for change can affect the lives of others. No one deserves to feel like they do not belong, so I am dedicated to making Interact a safe space for all.

Do not be afraid to reach out and come along to interact, we are always up for a chat.

Phoebe Blanc
Extra-Curricular Activities and Societies Captain

Hello! My name is Phoebe Blanc, and I am the Extra-Curricular Activities and Societies Captain for 2025. I have been fortunate enough to be part of the incredible A.B Paterson College community since my enrolment at the early learning centre.

I have a strong interest in many different College activities, such as public speaking, choirs, and college musicals. The College has provided me with a plethora of amazing opportunities to continue to develop my leadership skills; one of the most important lessons I have learned is that leadership is not just about holding a title or position of authority; it is about embodying integrity, empathy, and accountability in every action and decision. A true leader leads by example, inspiring and empowering others to reach their full potential.

Over the last 15 years, I have been nurtured by the guidance of incredible role models, and it is my hope to be able to instil these values of compassion and empathy in the community that became the core of who I am today.
