Auditions for the 2021 B Music (Honours) Program The UQ School of Music invites applications from everyone who is interested in auditioning for a place in the B Music (Honours) program commencing in Semester 1 2021. The closing date for applications to audition is Thursday 13 August 2020. The university may not accept your application to audition if your application is incomplete or received after that date. Changes to Undergraduate entry requirements for 2021 The University of Queensland has made changes to some of their entry requirements for the following 2021 entry:
Bachelor of Science and most related dual degrees now have the following new prerequisites: English, Mathematical Methods plus one of Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Earth and Environmental Science

Doctor of Medicine - Provisional Entry for School Leavers - Changes to admissions process for 2021 Changes to Medicine entry requirements for 2021 are:
Applicants must be a current school leaver
Applicants must attain min ATAR 95
Applicants must sit UCAT. Late bookings to sit UCAT in 2020 for 2021 entry have now closed
Applicants must meet English prerequisite (and any other prerequisites for first degree)
Applicants attend a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI). Applicants will be invited to attend the MMI based on UCAT scores. Not all applicants will be invited
Merit order selection into the program
Applicants will receive a score based on their Interview score (50%), UCAT Sections 1-4 aggregate (25%) and ATAR (25%)
Note that UQ admissions schemes and ATAR adjustments (max 5 points) will still apply to MD Provisional Entry
Requirements to progress from first degree to Medical Program
Must complete their designated key degree in the minimum time (i.e. 3-year degree finished in 3 years) and must achieve GPA 5.00

From the Year 3 Classrooms
Technology has proved to be a wonderful success again across Year 3 this term as part of our Online Learning. The first part of the Technology unit was a STEAM challenge. The challenge for students was to design and build their own cooker with the purpose of helping in society in some way to heat food without electricity or a flame.
The students were excited to work on designing, constructing and evaluating their cooking devices. Firstly, they investigated and discussed the ways that cookers already help in both our daily lives and the wider community. Students thoroughly enjoyed interacting with family and friends, discussing and sharing ideas for a variety of solar cooker models, using a variety of recycled materials to achieve their goal of being able to heat their food. They then tested and evaluated their devices, with some students even modifying their device after testing. The wonderful cooking devices created at home and school show great responsibility in ensuring they met the criteria of the challenge.

Year 5 Maths Online Learning
Our Year 5 students were hard at work during Maths lessons - in The Winton Centre and at home - perfecting their intricate Bedroom Models, using 2D and 3D shapes.
It was great to see the students excitedly sharing their designs with classmates via Teams.

Song of Hope - Year 12 Japanese Class of 2020
What lies before us and what lies beyond us, is tiny compared to what lies within us. - Oliver Wendell Holmes
Year 12 Japanese class has been focusing on the topic of Finishing Secondary School, Plans and Reflections, where students reflect on the end of their school lives, describe the significance of graduation ceremonies and end-of-secondary-school celebrations in Australian and Japanese-speaking communities, comment on personal feelings about their experiences at school, the relationships they most valued, and what they will miss as they leave. Given recent world circumstances, I adapted the syllabus-prescribed topics in a way that our students could identify with on a much deeper level, keeping in mind cross-curriculum priorities, creating another piece to the jigsaw puzzle of legacy for these students in their graduating year.
It is the teacher who plants the seed. It is from this seed, through great toil and gentle nourishment from students, that a grand harvest is reaped. Our College values getting to know all of our students on a deeper pastoral level. Understanding each student’s unique skill set is vital. I am very humbled and honoured to present to you all our Japanese Class of 2020 contribution. We all look forward to welcoming everyone back to the College next week!

In times stricken with loss and fading connections, hope acts as a prolongation of our treasured friendships and close associates. Our year 12 Japanese class have endeavoured to create a song envisioning our dreams and hopes for the future to come. The act of dreaming of a propitious future keeps us moving forward as we aim to take hold of this intangible hope within our determined hands. We are waiting in anticipation for not only the Senior School, but the whole school community to return with hopeful ambitions in the upcoming weeks. We’re looking forward to greeting everyone as they return to their classrooms, and to a life not lost but a life put on hold, now unwound and moving along like the film tape of a movie.
