After more than 30 hours of travel, our Space Camp adventurers wasted no time immersing themselves in the excitement of California. Day 1 was highlighted by a visit to the iconic Santa Monica Pier, where they soaked in the sights and enjoyed street entertainers, followed by dinner at the Farmers Market fare. A wonderful start to what promises to be an unforgettable journey!

Our Space Camp adventure reached new heights with a day trip to Disneyland - the happiest place on earth! Amidst the magic of Disney, students took part in the STEM Imaginarium Program where they built roller coaster mini rails to bring their physics theories to life. Perhaps one of our students will innovate the next Space Mountain!

Our Space Campers have had a stellar time exploring California! From strolling Sunset Boulevard, spotting the Hollywood Sign and visiting UCLA'S iconic campus, to dining at In-N-Out, attempting Guinness World Records and sampling American snacks at Walmart.

Day 5 was a highlight as they ventured into the heart of the entertainment industry at Universal Studios. Our students not only had a blast on the adventure rides, but also gained insights into the fascinating world of film making.

After a long journey from L.A, our students officially touched down at Space Camp headquarters!

They launched into the Advanced Space Program by delving into Mars topography and the history of space exploration. Their first day was filled with excitement and adventure, including gravity defying simulations and encounters with real NASA rockets!

In true U.S. summer camp fashion, they have been enjoying cafeteria-style dining and shared sleeping quarters, as well as meeting other Space Camp students from across the globe. What an adventure for our Academic Academy students!

The past few days at Space Camp have been out of this world!

Putting their newfound space skills into practice, students delved into scuba diving in the Underwater Astronaut Trainer (UAT), a remarkable facility modelled after NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Simulator. They have also had the opportunity to create and launch their own space rockets from the renowned U.S Space and Rocket Centre!

We hope our students and staff are enjoying their final adventures in America before they journey home!

The sun came out to shine and our Secondary School Cross Country Carnival finally hit the tracks!

The race day was filled with big smiles, contagious high spirits and impressive performances by our runners. House pride was certainly in full force, especially among our Champions from Dennis House who secured the Spirit Award! 

Congratulations to Wright House who claimed the House Shield, marking their second interhouse carnival win of the year!

A big congratulations to our Age Champions, and best of luck to all our athletes gearing up for APS competition in a few weeks time.

Congratulations to our A.B. Brumbies who recently competed at the 2024 Queensland State School Swimming Championships. 

Twelve students represented the College on the South Coast Team, winning a collective nine medals and an additional eight Top 10 finishes. What an outstanding result!

• Max Anderson claimed a total of three individual silver medals, one relay silver and a relay bronze! 
• Alex Mair won an individual silver and bronze medal. 
• Zoe Ball claimed a silver medal.
• Issac Sun won a relay gold.

We wish the best of luck to Zoe Ball, Max Anderson, Kyama Hibberd and Mackenzie Crocker who are currently competing against the best junior swimmers in Australia at the National Age Championships, held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre!

From the chill of Adelaide, we have received the results of three Brumby athletes who competed in the Hammer Throw at the National Athletics Championships this week!

Congratulations to Sam, Gabi and Jessica on their outstanding performances:

A special mention to Old Collegian and jumps coach, Emelia Surch, for her 3rd place in the Open Women's Heptathlon.

The Public Speaking winner was Samuel Simmonds from Richmond Christian College and the Overall winner was Chloe Wade from A.B. Paterson College. Congratulations. Chloe will now go forward to the State Final in Cairns.

This achievement stands as a testament to Chloe's exceptional hard work and talent.

We wish Chloe the best of luck as she travels to Cairns at the end of the month to compete in the State Finals!

Congratulations to Amy Jang (Year 7) who competed in the Queensland Table Tennis Junior and Senior Championships during the school holiday period, 1-7 April.

In the junior competition, Amy won a gold medal in the under-13 girls' doubles, a gold medal in the under-13 mixed doubles, and a silver medal in the under-13 singles.

In the senior competition that followed, Amy showed off her really high skills, winning a bronze medal in the under-21 singles, a gold medal in the women's doubles, and a gold medal in the women's team.

It was a State game to participate in the National competition to be held in Perth in July.

Well done Amy!

It has been a year of exciting growth and development in the College gym since the launch of our Strength & Conditioning Program! 

Attendance has consistently increased from term to term, with new students frequently joining the gym and establishing a weekly routine. In term 1, our most dedicated athlete made an impressive 29 visits!

This commitment to training has directly translated into improved performance on the field, higher placement finishes and personal best achievements.

Beyond physical improvements, the program also promotes discipline, patience and a strong work ethic among our athletes.

Thank you to our Strength & Conditioning coordinator, Mr Bradley Lawton, for his dedication to helping our students succeed!
