Student Device Use on Campus
As part of our commitment to student wellbeing and maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour, we have refreshed our guidelines for the Winton Centre to ensure that technology is utilised responsibly to support academic growth while promoting socialisation and well-being.
Before and After School our students are encouraged to utilise computers for school-related tasks and approved educational games, while mobile phones are reserved for essential communication with parents or transportation arrangements.
We have made changes to our guidelines for our Junior School students. To encourage socialisation and active engagement, Junior School students may no longer use their computers in the Winton Centre during first or second break times within the school day. Instead, they can explore alternative activities such as quiet reading or board games.
In rare instances where a junior student requires computer use for academic reasons during break times, special permissions can be granted with teacher approval, ensuring that such exceptions are genuinely necessary.
Senior students are still permitted to utilise the Winton Centre for academic purposes during break times, with the understanding that gaming activities are strictly prohibited.
To maintain a safe and supervised environment, computer and phone usage is restricted in outdoor spaces and breakout areas within the Winton Centre.
Our dedicated team of teachers and duty staff are committed to upholding these guidelines within the Winton Centre, ensuring a consistent and supportive environment for all students. Any violations will be addressed according to our school's disciplinary procedures, with regular reviews conducted to ensure alignment with our values and objectives.
By embracing these guidelines, our students contribute to a positive school culture centred on responsibility and respect. Together, we can ensure the Winton Centre remains a place that fosters both academic excellence and social growth.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting a balanced approach to technology use at A.B. Paterson College.
