What a send off for Term 2, at the whole school End of Term Assembly presented by Lawson House.
We celebrated the term that was, went through all of the highlights, had a dance and groove all together and we even had a sneak peak of a number from this year's musical!
With less than a week until the end of term approaching, we wish all students, staff and families a happy last few days here at the College for Term 2.

Year 6 Winton Trip Podcasting
This week, Year 6 began producing podcasts for their upcoming trip to Winton. Students have been learning about the various ways in which they can use digital literacies to showcase their learning. Earlier this term, they wrote an information report in English that profiled a town in Central Queensland. Students will make their way through the towns, when they travel to Winton and back, early next term.
Students refined a passage from their polished information report and transformed it into an ‘of interest’ piece for their peers, so as to pique their interest in the towns that they will visit. Throughout the term, there has been quite a bit of discussion around what podcasting is and how this medium has recently impacted our world. Year 6 have thoroughly enjoyed producing the podcasts and have, at times, been entertained by listening back at their own voice.
It is hoped that the podcasts will be listened to by students as they begin their bus travel to Central Queensland. There appear to be some budding radio and podcasting producers amongst the group. Laying the pathway for future job opportunities and skills related to the changing technologies on offer to all. Stay tuned!

Spectacular Prep Concert
Lights... Camera... Cuteness Overload!
A huge congratulations to our amazing A.B. Paterson College Prep students, who put on a real showstopper on Tuesday afternoon, as they lit up our LPAC stage with their extraordinary Prep Concert!
We are so proud of each and every one of their achievements - they truly were sensational performers!
Thank you to our wonderful Arts staff and especially Miss Newcombe for creating these special performance opportunities for our youngest A.B. superstars!
News from our Year 2 Classrooms
Ask a Year 2 student what they have learnt about this important question as part of their Science learning this term. Students are using their inquiry skills to discover how to take care of the earth’s resources. With a specific focus on water as a resource, students are learning about the water cycle, that it is a precious commodity and some ways to conserve water. The students are looking forward to their excursion to Hinze Dam and taking part in the SEQwater H20 program.
In HaSS, students have been consolidating their learning by making pop-up museums of past and present technologies. Some students chose to showcase how communication technology has changed over time, from smoke signalling to iPhones. Others looked at how music makes its way to our ears, with a focus on gramophones to Spotify and the like.
Choofing along into the STEAM world, Year 2 classrooms were bursting with pom-poms, plasticine – you name it! Their creations of futuristic technology were nothing short of astounding. Jet shoes for firefighters to reach heights to put out fires, washing machine robots (every parent’s best friend), and the favourite, a robot specifically designed to complete Home Learning.
Put your glasses on everyone, with Year 2 in charge, the future looks bright!

Fire Brigade visit our Prep Students
At A.B. Paterson College we surely appreciate the hard work and dedication of our local heroes! In fact, the wonderful fire brigade visited our Prep students today and were able to give them a lesson on all things fire safety. They even had a close up look at the fire truck and everyone's favourite part... they were able to spray the hose across the oval!
What a fabulous day for our Prep students and staff, plus a very big thank you to our amazing firemen!
College Rock Band Entertain Us!

Year 6 Bilby Bake Sale
Our Year 6 students were working hard on Wednesday at their Bake Sale to support the Save The Bilby Fund.
We had very enthusiastic sellers and even more excited buyers, purchasing some yummy cakes and treats with their pocket money.
What a beautiful and delicious selection of baked goodies to choose from. The decision of what to select was taken very seriously with some sellers promoting their wares vigorously.
Thank you to all of our wonderful bakers for making this event a sweet success.
