The annual Queensland Youth Music Awards (QYMA) is a wonderful platform that showcases fine young musical talent, and this year was no exception.
Following on from our successes in Week 4 of this term, our band and choral students have achieved more outstanding results with the newly formed Senior Choir taking home a Gold Award, a testament to their harmonious precision and enthusiastic performance skills.
The Year 6 Band and Wind Symphony both secured Silver Awards, with both ensembles demonstrating exceptional skill and ensemble cohesion.
The Prep Choir, Year 1 Choir, and Year 3 Choir also earned Silver Awards, highlighting the musical promise and budding talent of the younger participants.
Notably, the Year 2 and Year 3/4 Choirs achieved a Gold Award with the Year 3/4 Choir also receiving 1st Place along with the 'Junior Choir up to Year 4' trophy. What an incredible accomplishment that speaks volumes of their dedication and hard work!
On Thursday night, both our Year 5/6 Choir and our combined Boys’ Chorus and Girls’ Chorus also won Gold Awards, and we have just received word that the combined ensemble has now earned a place in the finals of this very competitive section!
These accolades are not just a reflection of the students' commitment but also of the unwavering support and guidance provided by the directors, accompanists, parents, and the academic support staff who contributed their time and expertise. This collective effort culminated in a triumphant celebration of music, where every note played and sung resonated with the joy and spirit of the young performers.
