News from Year 4 Classrooms

Lights, Camera, Eco-action! Year 4 students are stepping into the spotlight to tackle recycling and environmental awareness with their own persuasive video clips. Integrated with HASS and Media Arts, students are investigating the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and discovering how small actions at home and in the community can make a big difference to our environment.

Our eco-warriors have been busy brainstorming ideas, developing scripts and learning to storyboard their scenes to create captivating infomercials. They are beginning to film role plays and interviews to explain the recycling process, before editing their videos in Adobe Express to add sound effects, voice overs, visuals, and edits to make their messages stand out. As they go, students reflect on their creative process and evaluate how well their final videos promote positive 'ecotudes' (our eco-attitudes!) and encourage environmental action. We are excited to see the powerful messages they create!

Here are some thoughts from some of our students about their project:

I enjoyed typing ideas and finding music on Adobe Express. I also like how we can create new videos on whatever subject you like! Vanessa Ko

I have enjoyed going on Adobe Express and trying out all the cool features! Our task is to create a video about Reduce, Reuse and Recycling. My partner for the video is Amanda. I can't wait to get back on Media Arts again and work on my project! Mishka Upadhyay

I have enjoyed creating projects and planning out my reduce, reuse recycle video. It is fun because you get to explore new things and you can create lots of amazing projects like the one we are working on now. Leila Haidar

I enjoyed discussing ideas with my partner and coming up with great information to put into our ‘3Rs’ video. Aaliyah Sharma

I have enjoyed working in a group to make our video on reduce, reuse and recycle. Sophie Becker
