Junior School Students Celebrate Safer Internet Day

This year, our Junior School students from Prep to Year 6 celebrated Safer Internet Day with a series of engaging and educational activities designed to promote online safety and global awareness.

One of the highlights of the day was a special Zoom call with Ms. Siberry and her students at Dwight International School in South Korea. During this virtual exchange, our students shared tips on how to stay safe online while also learning about the culture and daily life of their peers in South Korea. The discussion was lively and informative, with students from both schools exchanging ideas on how to navigate the digital world responsibly.

In addition to the Zoom call, our classes participated in interactive lessons in the A.B. Metaverse. These lessons provided a unique and immersive experience, allowing students to explore various scenarios and learn practical strategies for staying safe on the internet. The Metaverse environment made the learning process fun and memorable, reinforcing the importance of digital safety in a dynamic way.

To further emphasise the significance of Safer Internet Day, our students completed a survey on their internet usage and safety practices. The survey results will help us understand our students’ online habits better and tailor future lessons to address any areas of concern.

Throughout the week, our college devices displayed the Safer Internet Day logo, sparking conversations among students and staff about the importance of being safe online. This visual reminder served as a constant prompt for everyone to reflect on their digital behaviours and commit to safer internet practices.

Overall, Safer Internet Day was a resounding success, bringing our college community together to celebrate the importance of online safety and fostering a sense of global citizenship among our students. We look forward to continuing these important conversations and activities throughout the year.
