On Wednesday, 7 August, eight Year 10 and 11 students had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Empowering Young Women Leadership Masterclass, run by Women in Business Australia Executive Director, Karen Phillips. During this masterclass, students networked with like-minded peers and successful female entrepreneurs from across Queensland.
The first workshop focused on living with purpose and enhancing well-being to maximise leadership potential. Students left with concrete skills to improve their wellbeing and show resilience in challenging situations. After a delicious lunch, they engaged with a panel of business industry leaders who shared their personal experiences and advice on building successful businesses. Key takeaways from the session included seizing opportunities and following your passion.
The day concluded with a tour of the Southern Cross University Bilinga campus, where students explored the range of facilities and enjoyed stunning beach views.
Year 11 student, Aliyah, reflected on her experience, stating: "I had a wonderful time at the workshop. It was an immersive experience that allowed us to have a voice in the room and interact with each other. I took away valuable lessons for life beyond school and was able to listen to inspirational stories from an incredible group of women."
