At the conclusion of the Gold Coast Eisteddfod in Term 3, the Wind Symphony was chosen by the adjudicator for a Special Award to recognise their expressive performance.
The Wind Symphony were honoured to be the recipient of the Griffith University Award for Outstanding Secondary School Band/Orchestra.
The ensemble also gained First Place and a Gold Award in the Secondary A-Grade Concert Band/Orchestra section of the Eisteddfod, and it was the first time the College has entered this section.
Earlier in the year, the Wind Symphony also entered the Queensland Youth Music Awards for the first time. They were awarded 3rd place and a Gold Award, with a result of 94/100.
By participating in these events, the Wind Symphony learned to make the audience feel emotion through their musical performances. These opportunities were a chance to celebrate music performance and were a wonderful experience for our students.
