Campus Closure

Dear Parents,

Following ongoing monitoring of Tropical Cyclone Alfred and in line with advice from local and state government authorities, the College has made the decision to close the campus Thursday 6 March and Friday 7 March.

With forecasts predicting extreme weather conditions throughout Thursday and Friday, there is an increasing likelihood that our campus will be affected by road closures and limited transportation options.

We understand that many in our community may face challenges related to their homes or road access, and our thoughts are with those facing these challenges.

Key Campus Closure Details

  • The College campus will be closed to all students and staff Thursday and Friday.
  • Junior School students (Prep – Year 3) will be able to access some optional learning activities as per the A.B. Connect post on Thursday and Friday.
  • Junior School students (Year 4-6) will be able to access work via A.B. Connect on Thursday and Friday.
  • Secondary School students will be able to continue to access work via A.B. Connect on Thursday and Friday.
  • Any work completed at home is optional and there is no expectation for online learning. All lessons will be covered when we return and those who are unable to complete any work online will not be disadvantaged.
  • We are aware that exam block for Year 10 – 12 is next week and will make decisions regarding early next week.
  • Teachers will consider make-up academic arrangements where necessary.

Key Information for Parents

  • Do not send your child to school this Thursday or Friday.
  • Your children’s attendance for Thursday and Friday will be recorded as an acceptable absence.
  • All students will remain under staff supervision on campus on Wednesday.
  • Please take extra care when travelling to the College, particularly on flood-prone roads. Brisbane Road and Arundel Drive are known to flood - please consider using Marble Arch Place as an alternative route or Arundel Drive from Napper Road.

The College will continue to monitor conditions - I intend on sending on an email update regarding the state of our College campus on the weekend in anticipation of opening Monday.

We encourage all families to stay safe and follow official guidance from emergency services and the Bureau of Meteorology.

We appreciate your cooperation during this time and will keep you informed as the situation develops.
