Home learning is an integral and important part of learning for all College students. Home learning enhances student learning, improves achievement, develops students' study skills and as such, is an essential part of the curriculum. Home learning allows parents and guardians to be involved in students’ learning and keep them informed about what students are doing at school. As such, the College views home learning as a vital part of a student’s learning experience, enhancing attainment and ensuring that strong foundations are laid for future learning. We also recognise that for home learning to be effective, it has to be stimulating and challenging whilst being supported through the teaching and learning occurring in the classroom.
Home learning will be differentiated to suit the learning needs of each child. Home learning is designed to complement what is being learned at school. Within a blended learning environment, home learning might include watching an introductory video or doing some required reading to prepare for lessons the next day. It might be working through/reviewing some concepts that were taught in class. It might be working on set tasks on Literacy Planet or an online Mathematics program.
