Natalie Sole

Class of 2015

What does the immediate future hold for you after graduation this November?

After just arriving back from modelling overseas in India at just 16 years of age, my immediate future consists of a gap year, modelling in New York, Europe, Tokyo and wherever my agent and booker take me. Sydney is the first stop, to finalise paperwork with my agency and then I’ll be off to wherever my heart desires. I signed a modelling contract with Wilhelmina Models New York at the age of 14, so New York is definitely one of my first priorities. Whilst in New York I hope to be working with a variety of highly-acclaimed brands, creative directors, photographers and designers.

What is your dream? What do you aspire to be or do?

Ideally my biggest aspiration is to travel, be happy, meet and surround myself with like-minded people, take photos and to create. Following my working gap year, I am hoping to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts Photography and Digital Imagery specialising in fashion photography at the Queensland University of Technology or Melbourne’s RMIT University. I am planning on studying for one to two years in Australia and then transferring to Central St Martins, University of the Arts, London, where I will be studying my Postgraduate MA in Fine Art Photography, Fashion Communication or Create Visual Merchandising. In terms of the fashion industry today, my biggest inspiration is social media and creative icon Margaret Zhang. Zhang is a photographer, writer, blogger, stylist, model, soy chai latte lover, and law and commerce graduate. My dream is that in ten years I’ll have all of those qualifications under my belt, minus the law and commerce.

When you look back at your time in the College, what will you remember?

I have been lucky enough to be a student at A.B. Paterson College for 12 years and, during that time, I have collected an abundance of memories; however, the memories I will forever hold close to my heart are those from my earliest years at the College.  Memories like playing with the Seniors when I was in Grade 3, or end of year Junior and Senior Christmas Carol Evenings will always be my favourite. I’m not just going to remember A.B Paterson College as a school but as a family, a family that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, and one that I will truly, truly miss.

What has the College gifted to you that will see you make a successful career in the years ahead?

A.B. Paterson College has definitely gifted me with the self-confidence and determination to follow my passions, no matter how far-fetched and illogical they may seem. A.B. Paterson College does not only foster the academics, but also the quirky creatives and that is a quality I sincerely admire in a school. Support from teachers at the College has given me the strength and willpower to take risks and to never stop persevering until I am truly happy and, no matter how many times I may get knocked down, to always get straight back up, and never settle for anything but true contentment in life.
