A.B. Paterson College caters for students with a wide range of abilities. The Learning Enhancement team is a whole school planning and support mechanism, designed to assist students through the co-ordination, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of differentiated educational programmes. Students, who need support in meeting the challenges of the curriculum, are identified and assisted using a multi-disciplinary model, which involves identification, tracking and support. Access to Learning Enhancement services is through a referral process.
Learning Enhancement Teachers
Working in partnership with students, parents, and classroom teachers, outside agencies and the Leadership Team, Learning Enhancement teachers identify a collaborative approach to implement support for students with additional learning needs. Teachers provide in-class, small group and/or one-to-one teaching. Students may receive additional assistance in literacy, numeracy, behaviour management, organisation and social skills development.
Learning Enhancement Assistants
Learning Assistants, under the guidance of the Learning Enhancement and classroom teachers, provide in-class support for students
Working across the P-12 campus, the Education Psychologist offers short-term counselling, social skills training and pastoral care support to students and parents. Cognitive assessment is also available to students identified by the referral committee.
