As a Senior, Dance Troupe is not only a chance for me to build relationships with younger students, who have the same passion as me, but to demonstrate leadership each rehearsal. Dance Troupe is an exciting and team-based co-curricular activity, and I know that for many years to come, I will cherish the memories of the hard work, determination and friendships that developed through Dance.
A.B. Paterson College offers Dance as a co-curricular activity, and currently extends to students the opportunity to participate in Primary, Intermediate or Senior Dance Troupes. Students audition and are placed into the group that best suits their age and ability level, and are taught techniques and choreography in a range of styles, including Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop and Contemporary Dance. Dance Troupe combines exercise with fun, as well as stimulating creativity, spatial awareness and co-ordination.
Dance as an art form is incredibly powerful and expressive and can assist students in building academic confidence, as well as providing performance opportunities at school performance evenings, school productions and eisteddfods. Students are also offered the opportunity to enrol in private and group dance lessons through specialist dance tutors, who operate after-school lessons, as well as private tuition throughout the school day.
