Calling for Expressions of Interest

On behalf of the Board of A.B. Paterson College, I now call for expressions of interest from the community for the following positions that shall become vacant on the Friends of A.B. Paterson College Committee on 31 December 2018:

  • Chairperson;
  • Deputy Chairperson;
  • Secretary;
  • Treasurer; and
  • Committee Members

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community by organising events for students and families within the entire College and help in the coordination and organisation of such activities as the College Fete and Banjo’s Games.

All expressions of interest must be submitted to the College Board through the Director of Community Relations and Development, Ms Nikki Ward by email on nward@abpat.qld.edu.au before 1.00pm, 30 OCTOBER 2018.

Expressions of interest must be submitted on the approved application form, which is available from the Director of Community Relations and Development, Ms Nikki Ward.

The Board will consider these expressions of interest but reserves the right to appoint outside this process as needed.

All applicants will be informed if they have been successful in their application by 5 December, 2018.

28th Annual Speech Night for Years 4-12

Wednesday, 14 November
Dunlop Multi Purpose Centre
6.30pm – 8.30pm
6.00pm Roll Call for Students

Parents please note, this is a compulsory event for all students in Years 4-12.

While this memorable night gets underway at the Dunlop Multi-Purpose Centre at 6.30pm, please ensure your child arrives promptly at 6pm, on Wednesday 14 November, to have their name marked from the roll.

The evening is expected to end at 8.30pm.

An email will be sent out to all parents with further information, including a College Map detailing where students are to go for roll call at 6pm and where parents can pick them up at the conclusion of Speech Night.

Thank you for your assistance with this. We look forward to seeing everyone on the night.

Co-Curricular Directory

Activities commencing early in the term include fitness sessions, a range of Dance opportunities, Art Lessons, Chess, Athletics, Tennis, Rookies2Reds Rugby, Tae Kwon Do, Football Academy and coaching, Swimming training and Swimming Club, a wide range of music ensembles, bands and choirs, Future Problem Solving for Years 5 – 10, Junior School Writing Club and Running Club.

Parent & Bub Book Club


WHEN: Every Thursday during College terms
TIME: 8.45am to 9.45am
WHERE: Lilly Pilly Learning Centre
FOR: Families with Pre-School Children and Younger
COST: Free

Our Thursday morning Book Club is dedicated to instilling a love of reading from an early age, while allowing families an opportunity to engage with other parents and children. 

Join us to read books, sing songs and other fun activities. Families are welcome to obtain an A.B. Paterson College library membership and borrow books each week. The Book Club will be led by Lilly Pilly Teacher-Librarian, Stephanne Siberry. It is open to parents of current students, as well as parents from the wider community, wishing to learn more about our College and to spend quality time with their little ones.

(Due to allergies, Morning Tea will not be provided, but families are welcome to bring personal snacks to the library and we can eat together in our unique Gumnut Garden at the end of our Book Club.)

School banking day is Wednesday. Each week you need to bring in your yellow banking wallet and hand it to the teacher. Stepping into the future 

At the end of last Term, A.B. Paterson College Principal, Brian Grimes, announced that our College Board had made the decision to develop our next major building on our beautiful campus. The new building, which is yet to be named will sprawl three levels and be approximately 4,500m2 in size. To be located on the eastern side of our Hockey Oval, this magnificent building will be a state-of-the-art learning precinct.

To improve our service to parents, the College has reviewed the Student Services phone number to enable phone queries to be directed to the relevant area of the College.

Parents calling Students Services on 55 614 137 will notice that this number now has redirection options:

  • 1. Student Absences;
  • 2. Junior School enquiries;
  • 3. Senior School enquiries; and
  • 4. Sport and Co-curricular Activities.
