Swimming Achievements for Longhurst Brothers

Congratulations to the Longhurst brothers, Bennett (Prep), Sam (Year 2) and Jonas (Year 5), who competed in the Carinthia State Titles and the Ironkids in Austria over the holidays.

After receiving international clearance from Swimming Queensland and Swimming Australia, Jonas competed in the Carinthia Swimming State titles in Wolfsberg Austria, representing A.B. Paterson College Swimming Club.

In his first international competition, Jonas swam two personal best times, won Silver Medal in all four strokes for 50 metres, and took out a Bronze Medal in the 200 metres freestyle.

On the same day, Samuel and Bennett (Bennett was able to take Jonas’s spot who preferred to start in the swimming competition) competed in the Austrian Ironman event for kids, the Ironkids event.

It was a great experience for the brothers, Bennett competing for the first time in an aquathlon event consisting of an open water swim and a run.

What a great opportunity for them all.
