APS Netball Round 5 & 6 Results

The Year 4 girls had another awesome game this week as they continue to put into place skills and strategies developed at training sessions. Mrs Burrows and Ms Kirwan would like to commend our Senior School students, Amy Wilson, Michaela Wilson, Laura Foley, Joanne Quach, Lucy Altass and Emma Farley, who assist the Year 4s week to week at training sessions, aiding their development.

The Year 4 girls tried really hard in their games against Somerset College this week and, despite the score lines, continued to refine their skills from training sessions. Somerset College are always a tough opposition, so the girls did themselves and the College proud by continuing to fight all the way to the end. Well done Year 4 girls!

Netball Achievements

Congratulations to Open A netballer, Taneisha Beckton, who was selected into the Golden South Regional Netball Academy.

Congratulations also to Jessica Beh, who umpired her first APS game last week.  Jessica did an exceptional job at umpiring the Year 9B game, and then backed up to play in the Year 9A team herself.

  • When did you first make the Open A Team? I started playing in the Open A team when I was in Year 8 in 2014.
  • Positions played: Goal Attack (GA), Goal Shooter (GS)
  • When did you start playing netball? I started playing netball when I was 8 years old on a Saturday morning at Northern Gold Coast Netball Association.
  • What do you enjoy most about APS netball? I enjoy getting to work together with the girls in my team.
  • How do you involve yourself in the development of our junior athletes? I help coach the Year 6 APS team every Wednesday afternoon and also help run the lunchtime junior skill sessions.
  • Do you play for a netball club? I do not play for a club anymore, but I do coach the U12s Broadwater netball club team. 
  • Representative netball? I have played for NGCNA at a representative level since U12s. I am in the U16 Premier League Team and I was lucky enough to make the U19s Golden South Jaguars Team, which plays in the Queensland State Netball League, travelling to all parts of Queensland to play.
