Outback/Waltzing Matilda Day

The Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton is looking forward to a huge 2015!

April kicks off with Waltzing Matilda Day on 6 April.

As it is the 120th Anniversary of the first public performance of Waltzing Matilda, the Centre wanted to do something really special and take advantage of the Easter Long Weekend.

Easter in the Outback/Waltzing Matilda Day festivities will certainly deliver on that with a number of events based on Banjo’s Poems!

Events planned include:

  • ‘Geebung Polo Club’ polocrosse challenge
  • Vision Splendid Dinner
  • ‘Mulga Bill's Bicycle challenge’
  • ‘A Bush Christening’
  • ‘Man from Ironbark’ Charity Shave and beard competition
  • Waltzing Matilda Day

The Vision Splendid dinner , Saturday 4 April 2015, to celebrate Waltzing Matilda Day will be a great event this year. With entertainment led by Tanya Kernaghan and balladeer Geoffrey Graham, this year’s event will be held at a mystery location under the stars. Definitely a night not to be missed!

If you are interested in joining the Waltzing Matilda Centre in its celebrations this Easter with any of the events above, please refer to the Community Event Flyers page..
