Year 10 Service-learning Car Wash

A new record was set at A.B. Paterson College on Saturday, 7 September – but it wasn’t in the sporting or academic arenas.

A record number of cars passed through the annual Year 10 Service-learning car wash over four hours; thanks in part to the highly dedicated roadside advertising team luring in passing drivers.

While Mr Taylor manned the BBQ, Ms Sheehy, Mr Brookes and Mr Andrews supervised around 30 students who had organised, then ran the event. It turned out to be a fantastic morning with around 50 cars washed and cleaned.

It was the first year an internal clean was offered in addition to an external wash.  All of this was possible because of the leadership and organisation of Year 10 students Ryan Harris, Max Stokes, Mason Teasdale and Nicholas Walton. It was also great to see several other students step up during the day as well.

Overall, the students were able to raise around $900 for the Gold Coast Youth Homelessness Project.
