From the Principal's Desk

This week has been a wonderful celebration of achievement with our Academic Award Assemblies and the recognition of our award-winning teams at the National Finals at the Da Vinci Decathlon and the Global round of the World Scholar’s Cup in Beijing.

The World Scholar’s Cup has been an incredible journey for our Honours Students from Years 5-10. In the regional round of this competition every student who entered from our College finished in the Finals and was awarded a medal. The strength of our students truly stood out, with many receiving the top trophies and the vast majority qualifying for the Global round in Beijing.

24 students were then selected to travel to Beijing and compete against 3,500 students from 39 countries. This was a tremendous opportunity for these students and a wonderful chance to network with young people from all over the world. At the end of a gruelling competition, every single student from our College received no less than 2 winning medals for the various competitions. In addition, two of our Junior Teams were ranked in the Top 10 from the America/Oceania region, all four Senior Teams placed in the Top 11 from the America/Oceania region, one team came in 33rd, and 18 of our 24 students qualified for the Tournament of Champions at Yale University this November.

These results placed our College not only the strongest and most dominant school in Australia but in the America/Oceania competition. It should also be noted that our students have been chosen to represent this region in the International Final from a total of 50,000 scholars from 75 countries. This is something we should be exceedingly proud of. These achievements are listed below:

I would also like to congratulate each and every student who walked across the stage this week to receive an Academic Award, and those who Achieved Work Ethic Commendations and Colours. This was the highest number of students we have seen receive these Academic recognitions at these assemblies, and this was indeed most pleasing.
