Welcome to 2019 at A.B. Paterson College

I would like to offer everyone a very warm welcome to the 2019 academic year. As always, the first week back after a long break is exciting and full of energy. The College Leaders were waiting in anticipation to welcome all new students to our community on Tuesday morning and there was a buzz around the Senior School as students shared tales of their holidays and welcomed new members of the homeroom during tutor group orientation. With lockers assigned and diaries distributed, students were ready to tackle their first lesson of 2019.

It was wonderful to welcome our student body back to the College during the whole school assembly and hear of the exciting opportunities coming up this year. College Captain, Michaela Wilson, shared a glimpse of the College Leaders’ vision for the year, encouraging the student body to make 2019 their best year yet. Mrs Lindeberg revealed more details about the Spain Tour, available for students in Years 8 – 11, that is set to depart later in the year. College Leader House Captain (Dennis), Aleksander Bollman, and Vice-Captain for Dennis House, Emma Violet, spoke about the upcoming Dennis Sleep Out taking place on Friday 8 March, which is a wonderful opportunity for students in Years 4 – 12 to support local charity, Orange Sky Laundry, and to raise awareness of those in need.

Activities Week is fast approaching, and preparations are in full swing. Final bag checks have been completed for the Year 10 Outward Bound camp whilst Year 11 students prepare to become entrepreneurs during their Activities Week program IGNITE: Ideas with Impact, proudly sponsored by Alder Constructions.

Our Seniors have settled in to the Year 12 area with ease and have eagerly begun strategising for the year ahead in anticipation of their workshop, Success Integrated: The Leadership Challenge. Preparation for the QCS Tests will also commence with a full practice taking place during Week 2.

With such an energetic and inspiring start to the year, 2019 promises to be one of the most rewarding and exciting yet at A.B. Paterson College. We have so much to look forward to; I encourage all members of our community to enjoy every moment and I wish you all a wonderful start to the year.

Charlotte Brook
Dean of Senior School
