National Interschool Equestrian Championships

Over the school holidays, Phoebe Blanc (Year 5) Madison Cicala (Year 11) and Isabel Kitto (Year 12) travelled, for three days with their horses, to Werribee in Victoria to compete at the National Interschool Equestrian Championships, representing the school as part of the 80 strong Queensland team.

More than 400 riders from across Australia participated throughout the week in dressage, show jumping, combined training, show horse and eventing, with teams travelling from Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory, Queensland and NSW.

The friendly – yet enthusiastic – rivalry between state teams was certainly on display during the Opening Ceremony, with the Queensland team taking part in a spine-tingling team chant that would make any State of Origin team proud. The team spirit and comradery of the Queensland team was evident throughout the championships.

All three girls achieved exceptional results, with all making the Top 10 in their respective disciplines.

Phoebe competed on her ponies in the Show Horse section and was awarded 2nd place with her Shetland pony, Kristamoor Lodge Kieran and helped the Queensland Primary Show Horse team achieve overall 3rd place.

Isabel – riding Queens Park Hercules – placed 5th overall in a large competitive group for Preliminary Eventing.
