Lilly Pilly Learning Centre STEAM Arcade Game Challenge

In Term 3, the Lilly Pilly Learning Centre and Year 6 Library Leader STEAM Team challenged Prep to Year 3 students to create arcade games. Using their STEAM brains, and with only reusable or repurposed materials, students made arcade games that could be played during Banjo’s STEAM Arcade. These inventions, created outside school hours, were creative and innovative – with each one being a masterpiece in its own right.

The Lilly Pilly Learning Centre was thrilled and amazed to have 42 incredible arcade games entered into the competition. All entries were viewed by educators and Year 6 Library Leaders on Monday in the Lilly Pilly Learning Centre and then were on display again for all of Junior School at Banjo’s STEAM Arcade, held in the Multi Purpose Centre this past Thursday. While library leaders and educators had an extremely difficult time determining our winners, they had an extremely fun time playing with each game and learning how it worked.

Each participant received a certificate of achievement and a new book of her or his choice. In addition, the winner and runner up in each year level received a coupon to spend at our next Scholastic Book Fair in October.

A special thanks to our Year 6 Library Leader STEAM Team, Korey Norris, Connor Jones, Andy Chen, Aditi Itikalapati, Arnika Krienke, Aveline Rounsley, Sara Mohajer-Iravani, Sophie Waddell and Caitlin Wruck. We would also like to thank Ms Amanda Wallis, Junior School STEAM Co-ordinator, for all her efforts in creating Banjo’s STEAM Arcade.
