Prepare for a case of holiday envy when you read about the Thailand adventures of Year 9 student, Alex Jefferies.
But, it wasn’t all quad-biking with elephants and patting tigers for this intrepid traveller.
During his first time travelling unaccompanied, Alex enjoyed an invaluable experience that you won’t find in the glossy travel brochures – undertaking work experience in a Chiang Mai hotel and conference centre, managed by his father, Mr Grant Jefferies.
During his 10 days abroad, Alex seized the opportunity to shadow the hotel’s Operations Manager, overseeing Front of House – including hotel reception – and Back of House operations, such as housekeeping, room service, banqueting and engineering.
Alex also met a Major General in the Royal Thai army, and other representatives of the armed forces, as part of a sales and marketing event at the hotel.
Of course, there was also time to take in the incredible attractions of this fascinating country, including Tiger Kingdom, temples and an elephant safari.
Quite the experience when you’re only 14 – almost 15! (Happy Birthday for next Wednesday, Alex!)
