Ignite: Ideas with Impact is Set for Launch

2018 Activities Week will see Year 11 students immersed in a brand new entrepreneurship program, IGNITE: Ideas with Impact - proudly sponsored by Alder Constructions - to be launched on Wednesday 24 January.

This unique A.B. Paterson College program – the brainchild of Assistant Head of SOSE, Kate Clauson – lets students engage in innovative thinking and idea generation in the emerging field of social entrepreneurship.

Here, workshop facilitator, entrepreneur Nicole Dyson joins Kate to reveal what students and parents can expect from this program.

During the launch, you will be inspired by three of the most influential and motivating guest speakers, together on stage at the Dawn Lang Performing Arts Centre from 6 – 7.30pm, Wednesday 24 January.

CEO and Founder of The Rogue and Rouge Foundation, Nicole Gibson, will join Managing Director of Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, Peter Gash and Edda Hamar, the Founder & CEO at LÁNA, and Co-Founder and Director of Undress Runways.

This powerful trio will energise students and parents ahead of a jam-packed week of business workshops.

Working in groups across Activities Week (29 January – 2 February) students will develop products and services that matter, and that can create positive social and environmental change.

With the help of entrepreneurs, industry leaders and social innovators, students will develop world class, scalable business ideas for the real world.

IGNITE: Ideas with Impact, will culminate in a public trade display and shark-tank style pitch on Friday 2 February.

A celebratory atmosphere will greet visitors who will be invited into the school from 5pm.

Food trucks and live performances will accompany the student trade displays, showcasing a week of innovation and discovery.

From 6pm, student finalists will pitch their ideas to a panel of experts. Groups will be judged on the quality of their ideas, their marketing and presentation skills and the positive impact their product or service could have on the world. The winning team will receive a substantial prize that could help them develop their idea in the real world.

IGNITE: Ideas with Impact - Final Challenge is a free, ticketed event. Tickets can be booked from 12PM Tuesday 23 January 2018 through the College Website http://www.abpat.qld.edu.au/page/dlpac-event-bookings
