The Swimming Club senior competitive swimmers embarked on a weekend of team bonding on 4 and 5 November. They all competed in the increasingly successful A.B. Paterson College Swimming Club meet on the Friday night and then travelled to the Sunshine Coast to begin the weekend of serious fun.
Saturday morning was a very successful Nambour Club meet, with some very competitive swimming against some tough competition. Overall, there were 16 personal best times and 14 medals amongst the team. Special mention goes to Samuel Longhurst (accompanying member of the team) for his Age Champion award. Saturday afternoon was spent at the Aqua Park at Bli Bli, and a well-earned fun time was had by all. An early night led to a bright and early start on Sunday, with a two hour surf lesson at Coolum Beach – a challenge for all, but it is unlikely that any of our swimmers will be challengers for the junior crowns of surfing just yet. The drive back was uncharacteristically quiet with some very exhausted children.
The aim of this weekend was to stretch and challenge the competitive swimmers and do some team building. There is no doubt this was achieved! The parents accompanying them also managed to survive. Special thanks goes to Coach Andy whose dedication and support of the team goes above and beyond what we all expect time and time again.
Planning is already underway for the next weekend challenge.
