Griffith University Updates
B Engineering (Honours) Major in Civil and Architectural Engineering - This new major will combine civil and structural engineering with the creative design and environmental sustainability aspects of architecture. It will be offered at the Gold Coast campus, commencing in 2018. See the Griffith website for details.
B Computer Science – This course will be offered at the Nathan campus, as well as on the Gold Coast in 2018. It is designed to prepare students to work on the cutting edge of technology, creating the future rather than just applying existing information technology solutions to business needs or building websites. New STEM double degrees – The following double degrees will be offered in 2018:
On-campus accommodation at Griffith – The residential colleges located on the Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses are available for students attending Nathan, Mt Gravatt and South Bank campuses. Accommodation at the Gold Coast campus is operated by Griffith University Village. The accommodation website provides information about accommodation scholarships, living on campus, and the support provided.
Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
Important reminder - The due date to register for auditions and submit portfolios for Creative Industries’ courses that have additional entry requirements is 5pm Friday, 15 September 2017. This is the last date to register for auditions for acting, dance, dance performance and music; and the last date to register and submit portfolios for fashion and visual arts, and business/visual arts double degrees. Changes to the Elite Athlete admission process - Applicants can now apply for the QUT’s Elite Athlete entry scheme through QTAC. QTAC will assess eligibility for the scheme and request supporting documentation directly from applicants. Where applicable, QTAC will obtain supporting evidence directly from the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS), if the applicant is with the QAS or the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Applicants can nominate themselves as an Elite Athlete at any time. QTAC documentation due dates, however, will apply (see p. 21 of the 2018 Year 12 Guide). QUT will inform successful elite athlete applicants on their bonus outcomes and QUT's supporting services. Creative Industries Experience Days for Communication, Design and Creative Practice - These experience days are hands-on workshops in creative practice, communication and design. During the following workshops, you can engage with lecturers, mix with current students and participate in curriculum-based activities that will enhance your academic skills.

Holiday campus tours – High school students and their parents are invited to come and have a look around the QUT campuses during the September school holidays. Take a guided tour of our Gardens Point or Kelvin Grove campuses; tour the Creative Industries Precinct at Kelvin Grove, and hear from current students about their life at university. University of New England’s (UNE) Early Entry Program – A Reminder
UNE 2018 Early Entry applications will close on Friday, 29 September 2017. The Early Entry program enables Year 12 students to be considered for entry to UNE courses before their final Year 12 results are available. Applicants are selected based on information from their school, rather than an OP. Successful applicants receive an offer directly from UNE in early November. University of Queensland (UQ)
Applications now open for the Enhanced Studies Program (ESP) – High achieving Year 11 students are invited to apply for this program. ESP provides students with an opportunity to study a UQ subject in Semester 1 of Year 12. Over 40 subjects are available in a range of study areas. Applications close 31 October 2017. Bonus ranks for regional and remote students applying for UQ Health courses – These students may be eligible for an additional two bonus ranks for a range of UQ courses under the Rural Access Scheme. Courses include:

New B Advanced Business (Honours) in 2018 – This four-year course will be limited to a small, highly motivated and high-achieving group of students aspiring to leadership roles in business, the community, or academia. Billy Blue College of Design Higher Education Diplomas
As these are higher education diplomas, eligible students can apply for FEE-HELP loans to fund their studies. If you study the D Interior Design and Decoration, or the D of Graphic Design, you will get credit points towards the relevant Bachelor Degree at Billy Blue.

Applications are now open for the B Circus Arts at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA). Entry into NICA is by audition, interview and successful completion of a medical assessment. Applicants must apply to audition. Applicants are expected to have a background in areas such as performing arts, physical theatre, youth circus, dance, martial arts, acrobatic sports or gymnastics. Auditions for Queensland applicants will be held on 1 October 2017 at Flipside Circus, Alderley.
