Each year, students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational competitions and activities related to Humanities and Social Science subjects. In May, students had the opportunity to participate in the Australian Geography Competition. Students from across Australia and New Zealand participate in this competition, with 70,000 students entering in 2017. Therefore, the achievement of a Distinction or High Distinction certificate is an outstanding effort.
Congratulations to Reece Molloy who achieved a Distinction in the Year 8 level of the competition and Rianna Webster who achieved a Distinction in the Year 9 level of the competition. Maria Nadezhdina was awarded a High Distinction in the Year 8 level of the competition and Sascha Lawton achieved a High Distinction in the Year 9 level. Kelly Zhou (pictured above) achieved an outstanding result, placing in the top 1% in Year 9.
Year 10 and 11 students studying Business, Economics or Accounting have the opportunity to apply to participate in Griffith University’s Business Ambassadors Program. This program provides an introduction to university life and assists students to develop a greater understanding of the business world. Students attend lectures and activities at the Gold Coast campus of Griffith University three times across the year.
Year 12 students studying Business, Economics or Accounting have the opportunity to apply for Griffith University’s Year 12 Program. Students attend three workshops across the year, during which they attend lectures and participate in group activities prior to completing an assessment task at the end of each workshop.
